WWE news has been grim this week, with Liv Morgan at the center of a stalker situation, while Roxanne Perez was also the target of another shocking plot.
It seems that the surprising news doesn’t end there since Jacob Fatu has been impersonated on Instagram for several months and was even able to get verified.
His uncle, Rikishi, sent out a warning ahead of SmackDown, making it clear to fans that the Instagram account, which many believed was Jacob’s but spelled his name with a P, was actually a fake.
This came as a surprise because the account did have the blue verification, and there are a number of comments from TKO on the posts, so it seems that even some within the company may have believed this was the SmackDown star.
Jacob Fatu is a rising star on WWE SmackDown
Jacob Fatu is a rising star following his WWE debut last year, and it seems that someone was able to easily pretend to be him online. Rikishi has made it clear that Fatu doesn’t have Instagram; he only has a Twitter account.
It’s unclear if this means that the page will be taken down, but the fact that the person was able to be verified as someone else is quite surprising.
WWE Superstars are globally recognizable athletes, and Fatu won’t be the last to be impersonated online. There have been many public service announcements from wrestlers in recent months after fans have been tricked into handing the imposters money, believing they were the real thing.
Fatu himself obviously has no connection to this person, and Rikishi has sent the warning just in case fans believed that it was Fatu and they were also scammed by him. It’s clear that wrestling fans online need to be a lot more vigilant, with this kind of thing becoming much more common.
