Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand scored both the go-ahead goal and the double-overtime winner to lift his side to a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. His wife Katrina Marchand tuned in to the game and reacted to his shorthanded goal in the second period on her Instagram stories on Friday night.
Katrina reposted a clip featuring Marchand’s first goal on the night from the official Instagram account of the Panthers on her stories. In the caption, she wrote:
“LFG 😤”
The Panthers opened the scoring just over two minutes in ON THE NIGHT WHEN Sam Bennett netted his 13th playoff goal after a high-sticking penalty on Edmonton’s Evander Kane. Kane quickly answered, tying the game 1-1. Evan Bouchard followed with a goal to put the Oilers ahead 2-1.
The Panthers came back again when Seth Jones made it 2-2, but soon after, Bennett was penalized for goaltender interference and Edmonton used the power play well as Connor McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl for a 3-2 lead.
Dmitry Kulikov eventually tied it with a wrist shot until Florida’s Niko Mikkola took a penalty, but instead of Edmonton scoring, it was Florida again. Anton Lundell fed Brad Marchand on the shorthanded breakaway and Marchand made it 4-3.
Florida held their 4-3 lead for most of the third. But with just 18 seconds remaining, Corey Perry found a loose puck and scored. The game went to overtime at 4-4. In the second OT, Anton Lundell again set up Marchan, who scored the winner at 8:04. The Panthers won 5-4 and series is now tied 1-1.

To honor him, the Edward Everett Hale statue in the Boston Public Garden was seen wearing a Brad Marchand jersey. A local page, OnlyInBos, shared a photo of the statue on Instagram, noting it was dressed to support the ex-Bruins captain as he begins his Stanley Cup run with Florida.
“The Edward Everett Hale statue in Boston Public Garden is wearing a Brad Marchand jersey today in honor of the former Boston Bruin as he chases for another Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers, starting tonight,” read the caption of the post.
