Aaron Rodgers has generated a lot of buzz this offseason. Since he was released by the Jets in February, fans and analysts predicted his next move. After months of being linked with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he finally joined the team on a one-year deal on Thursday. However, the move left fans and critics divided.
Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel is not happy with the Steelers starting another aging quarterback. He said that the franchise did the same with 36-year-old Russell Wilson but failed miserably, as it did not win a playoff game last year. Daniel also threw the name of franchise legend Ben Roethlisberger into the hat.
“The Steelers have been in this situation before. An aging quarterback trying to resurrect his career that needs to be propped up by the NFL’s most expensive defense. They tried the model last season with 36-year-old Russell Wilson,” Daniel said on Friday, via ‘The Facility.”

“What did it get them, a first-round exit, not a playoff win. Russell Wilson went six and five. They did it with Big Ben in his late 30s for a few years; he was nine and seven his last season. It didn’t work.”

Daniel highlighted that Pittsburgh has not had playoff success in recent years.
“They’re trying to do it again with Aaron Rodgers this year, and what possibly could be Aaron Rodgers’ last season as a pro. Of course, there’s some good flashes, but it hasn’t gotten them anywhere in terms of playoff success.
“A bunch of fool’s gold in there, some highlights, but they’re not winning playoff games. They’re doing exactly what Mike Tomlin said he wasn’t doing in the definition of that in the dictionary. If I’m not wrong Acho, this is insanity.”
Aaron Rodgers’ former teammate is optimistic about the veteran’s upcoming season
Unlike Chase Daniel, Aaron Rodgers‘ former Green Bay Packers teammate, Kurt Benkert, predicts big things for the Pittsburgh Steelers next season. Benkert said that the Steelers will have one of the best defenses Rodgers has ever played with, leading to a lot of success.
“The Steelers defense this year will be one of the better defenses Aaron Rodgers has played with in his career. If he can get back to his efficiency play, with a nasty run game. They are poised to be an uncomfortable team to play against,” Bemkert tweeted on Friday.
Only time will tell who, between Daniel and Benkert, made the right prediction about Rodgers and the Steelers.
