Laguna Beach fans are familiar with Kristin Cavallari and Lauren Conrad’s past feud — and infamous high school love triangle — but what about Cavallari’s drama with Conrad’s BFF Lo Bosworth?
The pair initially had issues when they both starred on The Hills in the early 2000s. “One of the producers bribed Lo, Audrina [Patridge] and Stephanie [Pratt] and promised them he would buy them presents if they called me out on camera for doing drugs,” Cavallari exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2016, claiming that Bosworth tried to get a Birkin bag out of the deal.
Nearly a decade later, Cavallari confessed during a June 2025 episode of her reality show Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour that she “hates” Bosworth more than Conrad, “If you can believe it.”
Cavallari, however, exclusively told Us at the time that she picked Bosworth over Conrad because of a silly “game,” claiming she had no “beef” with Bosworth more than 20 years after they attended Laguna Beach High School together.

Fans were introduced to Bosworth and Cavallari during season 1 of Laguna Beach, which premiered in 2004. At the time, Bosworth was a senior in high school alongside her best friend Conrad, who was in a love triangle with Cavallari, a junior, and Stephen Colletti.
While Bosworth and Cavallari didn’t have any obvious issues on the MTV series, it was clear Bosworth was Team LC, which instantly put her and Cavallari at odds.
The Hills Are Alive With Drama
Conrad led Laguna Beach spinoff The Hills from 2006 to 2009. During season 2 in 2007, Bosworth joined the cast and their friendship in Los Angeles was captured on camera. Cavallari, meanwhile, took over the show during season 5 in 2009 after Conrad’s departure.
During season 5, episode 10, Conrad and Bosworth attended Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag’s wedding, which also included a surprise appearance by Cavallari. Bosworth famously teased, “You match” to Conrad, pointing out that she and Cavallari were both wearing blue.
After Conrad’s exit, Bosworth stayed on the show for the remaining two seasons and her tension with Cavallari grew.
Behind the Scenes
“Lo has said some really nasty things about Kristin, and it got back to her,” a source exclusively told Us in May 2010, as their friendship started to fracture during season 6 of The Hills. “She’s OK with most of the other girls, but she legitimately hates Lo.”
Birkin Bag or Bust

At the start of season 6 of The Hills, which aired in spring 2010, Bosworth, Patridge and Stephanie confronted Cavallari about her alleged drug use while on a group trip to Miami. Cavallari later revealed that the so-called intervention was prompted by the show’s producers — and included “bribes” for her castmates, including Bosworth.
“Lo said, ‘Can I have a Birkin bag?’ She never ended up getting the Birkin. You need to get that s*** in writing!” Cavallari exclusively told Us in May 2016 of the alleged deal Bosworth made with the producers to talk about her fake drug problem. “It ended with all of the girls and I, our managers, agents, producers and lawyers in a room. I was told it wasn’t going to be a story line, and sure enough, it was on the first episode [of season 6].”
Goodbye La-La Land

After The Hills ended in 2010, Bosworth distanced herself from most of the cast and eventually relocated to New York. (Bosworth exclusively told Us in August 2018 that she is still friends with Conrad and their elementary school crew.)
When approached in February 2018 by MTV to reunite with The Hills cast, Bosworth told her “Lady Lovin” podcast listeners she instantly passed. “I was like, ‘F*** no! I don’t want any association with those people,” she recalled.
“I think that there were some people on the show that have gone on to great success and we’re friends and I’m happy for them. There are others that I probably never would have in my life unless we worked together at one point,” Bosworth explained, but decided not to name names. “They were all just my f***ing coworkers. It was a job. A j-o-b.”
Leaving Reality Shows to Kristin
Bosworth exclusively told Us in August 2018 that she had no interest in returning to reality TV — even to do a show about her business, like Cavallari did with E!’s Very Cavallari. (Very Cavallari, which aired from 2018 to 2020, documented the opening of Cavallari’s Uncommon James store in Nashville.)
“I don’t really know. I know how reality television operates, and I’m not interested in perpetuating a culture of drama around anyone or anything. It’s just not who I am,” Bosworth, who founded Love Wellness in 2016, told Us at the time. “I don’t like to gossip about people. I don’t like to cause trouble.”
She further explained: “When you invite the cameras into your life, you have to anticipate that that is part of the situation. Whether you fully anticipate it or not, that’s how it works. For me, that’s not how I choose to live my life. I choose to live my life in positivity, spreading a message of proactive, self-care culture for women.”
Bosworth added, “It’s not in my control. I’m a feminist and I find that a lot of the story lines portrayed on reality television aren’t particularly supportive of women or their missions in life or their businesses. So, it’s just not something that’s for me.”
‘The Hills’ Still Haunts Their Friendships

Bosworth revealed in April 2024 that her real-life friendships were “challenged” while appearing on The Hills — and it wasn’t for lack of trying.
“Not by our own fault,” Bosworth explained on the “Just B With Bethenny Frankel” podcast. “We were very young women constantly put into compromised situations where we had to blood-sport it out against each other to get through a day of production.”
Bosworth didn’t give any specific examples of the alleged scenarios they were put in but hinted that many of the on-camera feuds were orchestrated. “I didn’t have to get into it too much,” she reflected. “But in the areas where I did, it still kind of haunts me to this day because there’s so many stories behind this story everybody saw on television that run very counter to what the public thinks of you.”
Tour Diss Goes Viral
Cavallari seemingly reignited the fire surrounding her and Bosworth’s past feud during the first episode of her E! show Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, which aired in June 2025. During the episode, which was filmed during her Atlanta podcast tour stop, she played a drinking game on stage.
“If you had to spend the night in prison with Lauren Conrad or Lo Bosworth, who would you pick?” a question read during the game. “Should I just drink?” Cavallari asked before taking a shot and chasing it with orange juice. “Oh, my God, I hate you guys.”
Less than an hour later, a fan prompted her for a real answer during a meet-and-greet moment. “So, is it Lauren or is it Lo?” the fan asked. Cavallari laughed and gave an honest answer. “I hate Lo more if you can believe it or not,” she replied. (Cavallari and Conrad were enemies in high school because of their romantic attraction to Colletti but have since buried the hatchet.)
Kristin Clarifies Where They Stand

Cavallari exclusively told Us in June 2025 that her Honestly Cavallari comments about Bosworth were in jest — and simply part of a game. “I mean, I’m going to play that game. I’ll answer that question. You know what I mean?” Cavallari explained about choosing between Bosworth and Conrad in the heat of the moment.
She noted, “I think everyone sort of knows my history with Lo and the whole Birkin bag drama, so I don’t think that’s any shock to people who really understand the history.”
Cavallari insisted, “I have zero beef with Lo. That doesn’t even cross my mind.”
