Sydney Sweeney has broken her silence on her breakup from ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino.
“I’m learning a lot about myself [and] spending more time with my friends,” Sweeney, 27, told The Times of London in a profile published on Saturday, May 31, confirming that she’s single. “I’m loving it.”
Sweeney and Davino, 41, started dating in 2018, often keeping their relationship private. Us Weekly exclusively confirmed in March that the pair called off their wedding plans and went their separate ways. (While speaking with the Times, Sweeney succinctly answered “no” when asked if she was still planning a wedding.)
“They were supposed to get married this spring. The wedding is not happening, and they aren’t having further discussions about it,” a source exclusively told Us in March. “Sydney wanted to cancel everything and couldn’t handle the stress. A lot of their issues stem from Sydney being extremely busy with work commitments.”
Sweeney reiterated her packed schedule while speaking with The Times.
“I took three weeks off in April last year,” she said, noting that she works weekdays, evenings and weekends on four hours of sleep each night. “There’s 24 hours in a day, obviously, but I make sure that there are 26 for me.”
Sweeney has many projects currently in production and development, including the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s Euphoria.
“Being back is crazy, I love Cassie so much. She’s insane,” she quipped of her beloved character. “I see it all the time where they don’t think I am right for [a role] because they watched Cassie in Euphoria. Especially because Cassie was such a sexualized character — that puts a wall up for people.”

She added, “I feel like I’m constantly having to be, like, ‘No, no, I’m an actor, I’m supposed to be different characters.’”
Sweeney was eventually able to break out of Cassie’s shadow in 2023’s Anyone But You, a romantic comedy based on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, opposite Glen Powell.
“It’s always beautiful to see people fall in love with characters and be really supportive of stuff that they see on screen,” she recalled to the outlet of the blockbuster hit. “Glen and I adore each other, so I think we were so happy for the reception of the film.”
While promoting the film, fans presumed that Sweeney and Powell, 36, were in a secret relationship. They denied the claims and were actually in respective long-term romances with other people. At the time, Sweeney was still with Davino, who coproduced Anyone But You, while Powell was seeing his now-ex Gigi Paris.
Since their respective breakups, Sweeney and Powell have stayed friendly.
“When you spend so much time with someone, you become close and you talk to each other about anything,” Sweeney told The Times of their bond. “So work, life, family [and] friends, he’s just there for me. I’m there for him.”
The Echo Valley actress even attended the wedding of Powell’s sister back in March, sparking further romance speculation.
“There is nothing going on romantically between Glen and Sydney,” a second source told Us, refuting the rumors. “Sydney is close with the entire family. Sydney brought one of her girlfriends to the wedding as a guest and she RSVP’d months ago.”
