Get ready, Wednesday fans – season 2 of your favourite series is getting closer. It will feature none other than Lady Gaga, who closed out the Wednesday panel at Netflix’s Tudum event with a mashup of some of her big hits and Addams Family tunes. If you can’t wait for the series to return, you can now watch the first six minutes of episode 1, which we’ve embedded further down this article.
The iconic spin-off of The Addams Family was one of the biggest shows on Netflix when it debuted, triumphantly joining the likes of Stranger Things and Squid Game. Considering this, fans were puzzled by the prolonged silence regarding season 2. There was even speculation that another streaming platform could acquire the series.
Netflix finally broke its silence and renewed the series for a second instalment. Wednesday season 2 will arrive this summer, and here’s everything we know about it.
When could Wednesday season 2 be released?
The second season of Wednesday will arrive in two parts.
Part 1, consisting of four episodes, will premiere on Wednesday, 6 August 2025. Part 2, which also comprises four episodes, is set to release on Wednesday, 3 September 2025.
According to rumours, the second season of Wednesday was supposed to arrive in 2024. However, production was halted after the beginning of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023. Work on Wednesday’s set resumed on 30 April 2024 and finished in December 2024.
Here’s the first poster for Wednesday season 2.
Filming for season 2 was wrapped in December 2024.
What is the plot of Wednesday season 2?
As co-showrunner and executive producer Miles Millar stated (via Tudum):
Nothing is what it seems in Season 2. Wednesday goes into this season thinking she knows Nevermore. It’s the first time she’s returned to a school willingly. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she’s expecting. She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t.
The season 1 finale explained the mystery of Goody Addams, Joseph Crackstone, and the lurking forest creature. However, not all threads were neatly tied up. In the last scene, Wednesday receives an anonymous message and a series of ominous photos. Evidently, someone else is lurking around the school, not pleased with Wednesday’s presence. Does this connect to Marilyn Thornhill’s case? And who is the stalker?
Speaking of Marilyn, her fate is undecided, much like Tyler, who escapes from the prison convoy. Will he seek revenge on Wednesday, or have a change of heart?
The first season also introduced a mysterious cult to which Bianca’s mother belongs. This dangerous organisation will undoubtedly be involved in one of the critical plot lines in the upcoming episodes.

In the second season, Wednesday’s life will become more complicated when her family appear at the Nevermore Academy. Not only will Morticia and Gomez show up at the campus, but also her grandmother, Hester Frump. Uncle Fester will also drop by. What’s more, Wednesday’s younger brother, Pugsley, will arrive at the school and will struggle to fit in.
As showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar said in an interview for The Hollywood Reporter:
We wanna sort of explore and sort of complicate all of those relationships going forward. The school was closed when they left, which gave us the most possibilities for season two, and I think that’s something that we’re excited to explore. For us, the show also is really about this female friendship, with Wednesday and Enid really being at the center of that. The fact that they really connected with audiences, it has been really gratifying.
So, we’re excited to explore now that Wednesday’s dipped her toe into the friendship pool, what’s that gonna look like? It’s like, she hugged. That was her big arc for the season, right? So it’s like now, we do that. Then, the other thing that’s really interesting is to continue to explore the Wednesday-Morticia mother-daughter relationship as well, which now that Morticia knows about the power, it has given her sort of an idea of how that’s going to go. How is their relationship going to evolve?
Interestingly, during a conversation on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Jenna Ortega said that Wednesday season 2 might abandon teen drama themes and focus on horror instead:
We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously. We’re ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great.
Co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar seem to confirm that shift:
This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore.

Who is starring in Wednesday season 2?
One of the biggest stars of season 2 will be Lady Gaga herself. According to Netflix, the pop star will appear in Season 2 Part 2, portraying “the mysterious and enigmatic Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.”
Lady Gaga, who in March 2025 released a new album called Mayhem, has been developing her acting career for quite some time.
Besides starring in the mentioned DC film, Gaga also appeared in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, A Star is Born by Bradley Cooper, two Machete movies by Robert Rodriguez and two seasons of American Horror Story. For her acting achievements, she was nominated for several awards, and in 2019, she won an Oscar for her song Shallow for A Star is Born movie.
In 2023 Jenna Ortega mentioned that she would love Lady Gaga to join the cast of Wednesday season 2:
I’m sure Netflix would love that. I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other. (via Entertainment Weekly)

In season 2, we won’t see Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe. The actor left the show after allegations of sexual assault appeared on social media in 2023.
