One of the leading rivals to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 flip phone could be set to arrive very soon indeed.
The compact foldable in question is the follow-up to the Xiaomi Mix Flip. Let’s go out on a limb and call it the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2.
Established leaker Digital Chat Station has taken to Weibo to announce that the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 will be among the “many new phones worth looking forward to in June”.
This would be a little earlier than initially expected, with the original Xiaomi Mix Flip landing in July of last year. Crucially, this would likely see the phone pipping the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 to the post, with a July or even August launch likely for the latter.

Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 rumoured specs
It seems the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 will be significantly thinner and lighter than its predecessor, and will also gain an IPX8 water resistance rating.
On the display front, we could be looking at a 6.85-inch LTPO OLED main screen with a 1.5K resolution – considerably sharper than the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s likely FHD+ resolution.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 should run on Snapdragon 8 Elite power, which would make it competitive with the current flagship brigade. It remains to be seen if Samsung will go with similar Qualcomm power, or will settle for its own cheaper (but likely inferior) Exynos 2500 chip.
We’ve heard that it could be set to run on a 5,100mAh battery, which is pretty huge for a compact foldable. We’re not expecting the Galaxy Z Flip 7 to even get close to that capacity.
When it comes to the camera, the Flip 2 could pack a 50Mp main sensor (1/1.5″ type) and a 50Mp ultra-wide sensor (1/2.76″ type), with the latter replacing the original Flip’s dedicated telephoto camera.
If this latest rumour is accurate, we shouldn’t have too long to wait for the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2. Following on from the impressive Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, Samsung could be in for some seriously hot foldable competition this year.
